TPG was engaged by Woolworths Limited to provide due diligence planning advice on a parcel of land in Berala in liquidation. The due diligence provided by TPG informed the client on relevant planning policies and statutory development controls, site attributes and key opportunities and constraints presented by these site attributes as well as the development and yield potential of the site. Woolworths were then able to acquire the site on the basis of a thorough understanding of the highest and best use of the site as well as the planning feasibility required to realise a project from start to finish. Woolworths then negotiated with RailCorp and Council to secure an approval on the site for a retail development.
TPG’s key responsibilities included due diligence and design input to address challenges associated with the existing site to ensure the quality design of a supermarket and retail anchor for the Berala locality. TPG’s other responsibilities included the preparation of a Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) and liaison with council throughout the approval process to ensure a good outcome for the client and the residents of Berala.
